Since the early days of its birth, Quantum Mechanics has been applied to explain the properties and the behavior of a wide range of natural systems, and it has had tremendous success also as a fundamental physical theory. Atomic, molecular, and solid state-systems are just a few examples of physical systems whose behavior has been understood by applying Quantum Mechanics [1,2]. Mainly, quantum physics developed through the rst half of the twentieth century largely by understanding how light and matter interacts.
