Market of large yacht has a significative growth in the last decades, probably the size of those ships experienced the fastest growth among all the kind of ships, increasing length, displacement, etc. of a factor higher than 5 times. The consequence of this was the development of new set of Rules and parameters and, of course, the need to begin a scientific approach to the hull shape, since it is no more possible to consider each hull as an “unicum” but must be defined a new family of hulls, with appropriate geometrical parameters , on the line already adopted for other categories of ships. The present work wants to examine a series of hulls build mainly in Italy in the last 30 years, examining the change and the tendencies in the resistance parameters and the geometrical ratios, aiming at the definition of a possible new “class” of hulls that can be adopted for the design of large yachts. The hull are of similar typology but different sizes, spanning from 30 to 75 m , and the database has been created collecting the results from tank test and Inclination reports, creating also some relationships between the parameters , like for example the ratio VCG/D , (height of center of gravity over hull height) in order give also a possible line guide for the project, similarly to what it is already available for other categories of ships.

Abstract
The hull are of similar typology but different sizes, spanning from 30 to 75 m , and the database has been created collecting the results from tank test and Inclination reports, creating also some relationships between the parameters , like for example the ratio VCG/D , (height of center of gravity over hull height) in order give also a possible line guide for the project, similarly to what it is already available for other categories of ships.Pubblicazioni consigliate
