In this paper, a numerical procedure to obtain the pseudo-polynomial characteristic equation of a commensurate time-delay system is proposed. The method is formulated in terms of an interpolation problem, and it is based on the generation of a suitable set of random numbers. Some results, showing how the random number generation method affects the procedure convergence are also reported.
