The replacement of window frames seems to have become, in the last five years, one of the most widespread interventions in the field of energy adjustment, especially for existing residential buildings. Faced with an apparently simple and effective action to reduce the dispersions of the building envelope, various problems have arisen, on which new reflections have already been started to find more suitable solutions. This was the case for the reduction of the breathability induced by the excessive air tightness of the windows, which generated further innovations of the component, integrated with Controlled Mechanical Ventilation, aeration scissors, micro-ventilation, in order to restore the “draught”, which after decades of ostracism it is seen to recognize a role that is functional to the wholesomeness of indoor air and the durability of the materials. On the other hand, the definition of the correlations between the existing wall and the innovative componente is still being studied in the production industries and is determining the mutation of the interface. Therefore we intend to focus our attention on insulated counter-frames, thermal break, accessorized, having verified that their installation is a knot still unresolved and almost always left to the window makers, who all too often have been the first if not the only engine of technological innovations. We believe, instead, that the success of the intervention depends precisely on the “executive design” of the interface, not only from a mechanical, but also and above all, thermal point of view, recovering the system’s performance logic whose inefficiency would frustrate economic commitment.
