A Hybrid N-Level T-Type Inverter topology is presented in this paper. It is composed of a multilevel T-type converter and a set of two-level converters, connected according to an open-end winding configuration to the supplied AC machine. Compared to traditional multilevel topologies as Neutral Point Clamped, Flying Capacitor and Cascade H-Bridge, the proposed one features less power devices for a given amount of output voltage levels. Moreover, no additional circuits are required to balance the voltage across the DC bus capacitors, leading to a reduction of cost and power losses. The proposed topology is also superior to more conventional counterparts in terms of efficiency and total harmonic distortion. Simulations confirm the effectiveness and the advantageous features of the proposed topology.

Abstract: | A Hybrid N-Level T-Type Inverter topology is presented in this paper. |
