This paper deals with a forwarding scheme for wireless sensor networks based on the Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT). Several papers in literature showed that CRT-based forwarding techniques outperform more traditional approaches in terms of trade-offs between reliability, energy consumptions and computational complexity. However, although the advantages of the method were clear, all reported results were only obtained through either simulations on ideal sensor networks or simplistic analytical models. In this paper we provide detailed experimental results on CRT-based forwarding schemes obtained on a real wireless sensor network. In particular, the effect of all relevant parameters are investigated. Moreover, we show that, with proper choice of design parameters, experimental results are in agreement with numerical results predicted by analytical models.
