The review points out the proposal made by F. Menga to renew the existing ethical theories so that they fit the environmental emergency; then it focuses on the Author’s attempt to revise the main political theories so as to incorporate the due attention for future generations during the adoption of public choices. It analyses the contribution the A. draws from H. Arendt’s philosophy to the construction of a concept of “responsive” political representation, evaluating the connections between his thesis and the constitutionalists’ reflection about the issue, that enhances the pattern of the pluralistic democracy so as the concept of people (Art. 1 It. Const.) in a transgenerational perspective. It considers finally the A.’s position about the different frameworks provided by the juridical literature for the topic: subjective rights, duties of solidarity, “integrated policies”, even in the light of the recent constitutional amendment of Art. 9.
