This paper investigates the dynamic linkages between economic growth and renewable energy in Canada using a neoclassical production function framework. The annual panel examined comprises nine Canadian provinces covering the period running from 1981 to 2015. The econometric approach is based on an extended ARDL model controlling for di erent states of the economy. The empirical results document the important role played by renewable energy. Evidence of growth e ects is found, more so during periods characterized by high economic growth.
