The purpose of our study was to investigate the various housing conditions within the sample population in order to identify any deficiencies of such magnitude as to trigger the typical symptomatology of Sick House Syndrome (SHS) and, concomitantly, to affect, in a slight or major way, the mental health of the inhabitants. On the basis of the responses to the questionnaire, data were analyzed and were related to purely technical parameters and to other health-related ones, to show how the design of buildings, and especially of residences, must take into account equally relevant aspects derived from necessarily multidisciplinary studies. Finally, it was proposed to find new or redefine existing technical solutions, in order to reduce social inequalities and at the same time to keep prepared to best cope with the end of the current pandemic and mitigate the problems of any future one.
