Abstract

Many of the Italian buildings, built in the period of reconstruction and the economic boom, are the subject of actions to compensate for those shortcomings due to the presence of highly dispersing casings and obsolete plant equipment, as evidenced by the recent calls of Horizon Europe on Efficient, sustainable and inclusive energy use. A significant percentage of these buildings was built after the war through subsidized and contracted building programs. The urban suburbs in which these buildings still stand today, while certainly showing a natural performance deficit, have represented, especially at national level, a real “design laboratory”, certainly programmatic-technical and more rarely compositional-architectural, in construction procedures based on mechanization and programmed organization of work, already in use in other European countries, have been tested and new systems, or more correctly variants of existing systems, of serial production of factory or functional construction elements have been tested. The research aims to analyze buildings with prefabricated concrete infill, a testimony not only of the Italian historical-architectural twentieth century but also of technical-construction, where the first prefabrication systems for infill – tested in construction sites in which the artisan-qualitative phase is accompanied from industrial-quantitative – they can help to outline the technological horizon of the most recent experiments in terms of prefabricated panels with greater accuracy.
