The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the engineering/technical approach to building and plant design. In Italy, most of the building heritage belongs to historic buildings, which are not only bound for the protection and prevention of the loss of cultural heritage but are often given a different intended use. This fact implies that any plant design is complex. Starting from the current health measures for the reopening during the Covid-19 era and from the crucial current research on the subject, the feasibility of retrofit /plant redevelopment solutions is studied through an effective internal environmental quality. Many certifications have examined the sustainability of buildings and the importance of the well-being of the individual in the built environment, in particular the study was focused on a national certifying body. Through the analysis of the tables, criteria, and scores of four already certified case studies. A comparison of results showed that the scores obtained, and the certification levels assigned do not fully reflect all the fundamentals for Healthy Buildings. Although sustainability is understood as effective and efficient solutions for reducing energy consumption, environmental sustainability does not always guarantee the safety and well-being of people.

Abstract
Although sustainability is understood as effective and efficient solutions for reducing energy consumption, environmental sustainability does not always guarantee the safety and well-being of people.Pubblicazioni consigliate
