Well-being is a multidimensional concept that encompasses the physical, psychophysiological, social and personal needs of an individual; It is usually identified as the pleasant state of a human being in relation to his environment. The quality of the indoor environment is essential to ensure a high level of occupant well-being. The above generic indoor parameters are applicable to a variety of contexts, including home, schools and offices. However, existing work on assessing the well-being of occupants does not adequately capture other essential criteria that could contribute to occupant comfort in the context of the office building. This article includes a first part of research of the published literature on criteria for occupant wellbeing, associated indoor environmental parameters, and a thematic analysis. Subsequently, from the synthesis of the various standards and certifications, a proposal was identified to add three new foundations, which can be considered completion, of the conceptual model of user comfort, in this specific case for office buildings. The paper concludes with a discussion and recommendations of further research steps: selecting a representative case study; lay the foundations to better highlight the needs of users of the building context in question, through the questionnaire drawn up (Toolbox), so as to be able to evaluate the conditions of well-being of users; choose or implement (if not present) a tool that allows to evaluate and “parameterize” the indoor environmental quality and to identify any interventions to be carried out and finally the application of the most appropriate certification downstream than expected.
