Abstract
Local communities and narrations: the role of Gallic-Italic culture in San Fratello. The term Gallo-Italic indicates a range of dialects of Northern Italy with strong similarities with Romanic languages which have spread around France from the 9th to the 12th century in Sicily. In particular in the area of San Fratello in the 11th century Roger I founded an important Gallo-Italic colony; and therefore a language rich in expressions, sounds, rhythms, accents and inflections become widespread, took over the local language and replaced it. The language of Sanfratello, the most thriving among the gallo-italic dialects in the island, became guardian and expression of the terms connected to costumes, habits and legends of the village. Still today, the community of Sanfratello expresses and narrates the autoctonous history through this dialect, keeping alive the relations among people from Sanfratello who are widespread around the world and recalling their roots linked to Gallo-Italic memory and culture.Pubblicazioni consigliate
