The S. Salvatore a Settimo’s abbey is a former fortiied Cistercian monastery in the proximity of Scandicci (FI). Towers, moats and walls with battlements are still visible. Part of the defensive system created between the 13th and 14th Century a. D. is lost due to modern and ancient destruction. σevertheless, thanks to the extensive restoration and to the studies conducted in recent years at the site, it was possible to conceive new information about the defensive structures. The recovery of moats and bridges both on the north and on the south sides of the abbey contributed to a better understanding of the complexity of the defences. It has in fact observed that the moats and the bridges were built in a way that integrate the walls to create an effective defensive system
