Nowaydays prisons are often a media topic and their presence in news, movies, TV series or articles (that are not scientific in nature) is commonplace. Many times we encounter sensational headlines and exaggerated descriptions of crimes to attract the attention of readers or viewers. This creates an image of the prison system as a brutal and merciless system that does not focus on social readaptation and resocialization. The aim of the study was to find out the opinions of criminology and rehabilitation pedagogy students on the media and real image of the Polish prison system. It was interesting to find out how rehabilitation interactions are portrayed in the media, with a particular focus on programmess carried out in penitentiary units, and to confront them with the students’ knowledge in the analyzed area.

Abstract
Nowaydays prisons are often a media topic and their presence in news, movies, TV series or articles (that are not scientific in nature) is commonplace. Many times we encounter sensational headlines and exaggerated descriptions of crimes to attract the attention of readers or viewers. This creates an image of the prison system as a brutal and merciless system that does not focus on social readaptation and resocialization. The aim of the study was to find out the opinions of criminology and rehabilitation pedagogy students on the media and real image of the Polish prison system. It was interesting to find out how rehabilitation interactions are portrayed in the media, with a particular focus on programmess carried out in penitentiary units, and to confront them with the students’ knowledge in the analyzed area.Pubblicazioni consigliate
