The discovery of about 300 unpublished folders, kept in the Palazzo Zanca Archives, has made it possible to re-establish some hidden truths about the previous cities in which Messina was reflected between 19th and 20th centuries and after of 1908 earthquake. The fragment taken for this narrative is Via Garibaldi, widened to meet earthquake-proof regulations. The essay aims to analyse the mutations of this important artery, the surviving civil and monumental architecture and the reconstruction.
