Abstract
Electric emulators for electric machines are crucial for accurately simulating and testing the performance of electric motors and generators, in various operating scenarios. Emulation eliminates the need for large, costly, and cumbersome physical hardware. In this work, a 13-level power converter is proposed for electric machine emulation. This design leverages cutting-edge wide-bandgap devices to achieve a more compact system, while also improving the quality of output current and voltage waveforms and enhancing overall efficiency. Preliminary simulation results, obtained using the thermal module of the PSIM software, highlight the advantages of the proposed system. These results demonstrate significant improvements in power efficiency and showcase how the emulator can be designed as a more compact and efficient solution.Pubblicazioni consigliate
