This paper presents a new dual-motor powertrain for electric vehicles (EVs), utilizing a single five-leg, 3-level T-type inverter. The proposed structure aims to reduce the size and weight of the traction system which are crucial factors in EV applications, while simultaneously improving efficiency, hence positively impacting the vehicle's range. Different architectures will be examined, considering both electrical and mechanical differentials. Preliminary simulations were conducted using Matlab/Simulink and PSIM to calculate the efficiency of the proposed inverter and compare this with traditional dual- motor configurations.

Abstract
This paper presents a new dual-motor powertrain for electric vehicles (EVs), utilizing a single five-leg, 3-level T-type inverter. The proposed structure aims to reduce the size and weight of the traction system which are crucial factors in EV applications, while simultaneously improving efficiency, hence positively impacting the vehicle's range. Different architectures will be examined, considering both electrical and mechanical differentials. Preliminary simulations were conducted using Matlab/Simulink and PSIM to calculate the efficiency of the proposed inverter and compare this with traditional dual- motor configurations.File in questo prodotto:
