Low-temperature specific heat and thermal conductivity measurements have been performed on (Cs2O)0.14(B2O 3)0.86 glass in the temperature range from 1.5 K to 30 K. The caesium ions, weakly bonded to the B-O framework, are able of low-frequency local oscillations and affect the vibrational dynamics in the region of the boson peak. A resonant scattering mechanism between heat carrying acoustic phonons and caesium local modes does not appear to influence the plateau in the thermal conductivity.

Abstract
Low-temperature specific heat and thermal conductivity measurements have been performed on (Cs2O)0.14(B2O 3)0.86 glass in the temperature range from 1.5 K to 30 K. The caesium ions, weakly bonded to the B-O framework, are able of low-frequency local oscillations and affect the vibrational dynamics in the region of the boson peak. A resonant scattering mechanism between heat carrying acoustic phonons and caesium local modes does not appear to influence the plateau in the thermal conductivity.File in questo prodotto:
