The present study shows that cerebral blood vessels of the gerbil resemble other species in being richly supplied by NA-, 5-HT- and NPY-containing nerves. By contrast, the peptidergic nerves containing SP, CGRP and VIP are less dense. The results of superior cervical ganglionectomy show that the SCG is the principal source of NA-, NPY- and 5-HT containing cerebrovascular nerve fibres in the gerbil. The substances seem likely to coexist in some perivascular nerve fibres.

Abstract
The present study shows that cerebral blood vessels of the gerbil resemble other species in being richly supplied by NA-, 5-HT- and NPY-containing nerves. By contrast, the peptidergic nerves containing SP, CGRP and VIP are less dense. The results of superior cervical ganglionectomy show that the SCG is the principal source of NA-, NPY- and 5-HT containing cerebrovascular nerve fibres in the gerbil. The substances seem likely to coexist in some perivascular nerve fibres.File in questo prodotto:
