Divari regionali di produttività e condizioni ambientali: un confronto fra settori nell'industria manifatturiera

This research has double objective. First, we analyse the regional discrepancies of productivity for the manufacturing industry. Second, we empirically investigate the hypothesis that exists a relationship between regional discrepancies and environmental factors. To calculate the productivity we used data, relative to 1991, sourced from the "Fifth Investigation on the Manufacturing Firm" of the Mediocredito Centrale. The sample considers 3721 firms. These firm are distribute on all Italian national territory. For sectors these firms are follows: 1599 of the traditional sectors, 1310 of the sectors of scale, 711 of the specialized sectors and 101 of the high technology sectors. Our results show that productivity is regionally influenced by environmental conditions. Such an influence results marked in the traditional sectors characterized by the existence of small dimension firms.
