A case of bilateral meningocele of Meckel's cave eroding the basisphenoid is described. The etiopathogenetic mechanisms underlying the development of the dural herniation in an unusual location are briefly discussed with emphasis on the role of magnetic resonance in distinguishing this defect from other Meckel cave lesions.
