The glycero-alcoholic macerates of shoots and leaves of Olea europaea L. (Oleaceae) and of the iridoid oleuropein show hypoglycemic effects in normal and alloxan-diabetic rats. An oral glucose tolerance increase, too. The results of quanitative analysis of the extracts with RP-HPLC are reported.

Abstract
