Human b-actin pseudogene is currently investigated for its applications in real casework and population genetics. In this study a total of 250 unrelated members of the Sicilian population were analysed. Forensically relevant parameters were calculated. Distributions of the genotypes were in good agreement with Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. Results confirmed ACTBP2 potential to support genetics analysis in ‘‘closed’’ population and in forensic casework involving relatives. Reliability of capillary electrophoresis separation and accuracy in microvariant allelic designation are also discussed

Abstract
Human b-actin pseudogene is currently investigated for its applications in real casework and population genetics. In this study a total of 250 unrelated members of the Sicilian population were analysed. Forensically relevant parameters were calculated. Distributions of the genotypes were in good agreement with Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. Results confirmed ACTBP2 potential to support genetics analysis in ‘‘closed’’ population and in forensic casework involving relatives. Reliability of capillary electrophoresis separation and accuracy in microvariant allelic designation are also discussedFile in questo prodotto:
