This work is a study on three commercially available resin based composites (RBCs) usually employed for tooth restore. These contain filler of nanometre or micrometric size. Resin polymerization was induced by blue light emitting diode (LED) and halogen energetic sources. Mechanical and physical tests were performed on the RBCs. Results proved that mechanical properties are connected to the structural composition. Nanometric size fillers enhance the resin stiffness better than micro metric size ones but lower its wear resistance. The halogen source hardens and enhances the compressive strength but causes also an high numbers of cracks that lower its flexural strength and wear resistance.
