1-Butene [106-98-9] and butadiene [106-99-0] were oxidized to maleic anhydride [108-31-6] in an integral reactor over V-P oxides of varying activity and selectivity, and the data were analyzed using a Langmuir-Hinshelwood rate expression derived under differential conditions. At high partial pressures, competition between butene or butadiene for the same active centers decreases the rate of anhydride formation with no effect on the rate of formation of CH3COCH:CH2, AcH, or COx. The use of O-enriched air prevents this inhibition. [on SciFinder(R)]

Abstract
1-Butene [106-98-9] and butadiene [106-99-0] were oxidized to maleic anhydride [108-31-6] in an integral reactor over V-P oxides of varying activity and selectivity, and the data were analyzed using a Langmuir-Hinshelwood rate expression derived under differential conditions. At high partial pressures, competition between butene or butadiene for the same active centers decreases the rate of anhydride formation with no effect on the rate of formation of CH3COCH:CH2, AcH, or COx. The use of O-enriched air prevents this inhibition. [on SciFinder(R)]File in questo prodotto:
