We evaluated plasma levels of soluble VEGFR1 in patients with bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaw. Although zoledronic acid is able to induce a significant decrease in VEGF, we have not demonstrated a functional role for sVEGFR1 in ONJ patients.
Patients with bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaw have unmodified levels of soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1.
