Measurements of acoustic attenuation and relative acoustic velocity at megahertz frequencies have been made between 1 and 150 K in (AgI)x (Ag2O-nB2O3)1-x glasses for 0≤x≤0·6 and 2≤n≤10. The composition-dependent acoustic loss is analysed and correlated with the formation of BO4 tetrahedral units. The low activation energies obtained from the analysis are associated with the rotation of these tetrahedra.

Abstract
Measurements of acoustic attenuation and relative acoustic velocity at megahertz frequencies have been made between 1 and 150 K in (AgI)x (Ag2O-nB2O3)1-x glasses for 0≤x≤0·6 and 2≤n≤10. The composition-dependent acoustic loss is analysed and correlated with the formation of BO4 tetrahedral units. The low activation energies obtained from the analysis are associated with the rotation of these tetrahedra.File in questo prodotto:
