The Authors investigated the diffusion of Equine Viral Arteritis in the Sicilian horse population by carrying out research of the specific antibodies in some blood samples taken during the first 6 months of 1994. After examining 516 blood sera, 30,8% were found positive. They also tested the sperm of some serum-positive stallions for the presence of EVA virus to establish whether they could be chronic carriers and transmitters of the virus.
