The effects of shoots, leaves and flowers extract of Crataegus oxyachanta L. and of isolated active principles on the mechanical activity and coronary flow of rabbit isolated heart perfused by Langerdoff's method have been studied. The effects on the contraction rate, inotropism and coronary flow have been compared. Among all the examined extracts, the glycero-alcoholic macerate of the shoots shoved the best activity, causing strong negative chronotropic, positive inotropic and coronarydilator effects. The results obtained with the extracts and with isolated pure active principles confirmed that the C. oxyachanta activity is not due to a single group of costituents, but it comes out from the interaction between compounds having different chemical structure and different physiologic function in the plants.

Abstract
The effects of shoots, leaves and flowers extract of Crataegus oxyachanta L. and of isolated active principles on the mechanical activity and coronary flow of rabbit isolated heart perfused by Langerdoff's method have been studied. The effects on the contraction rate, inotropism and coronary flow have been compared. Among all the examined extracts, the glycero-alcoholic macerate of the shoots shoved the best activity, causing strong negative chronotropic, positive inotropic and coronarydilator effects. The results obtained with the extracts and with isolated pure active principles confirmed that the C. oxyachanta activity is not due to a single group of costituents, but it comes out from the interaction between compounds having different chemical structure and different physiologic function in the plants.Pubblicazioni consigliate
