The aim of this study was to test the antiviral activity of a synthetic compound, belonging to the class of thiosemicarbazone and known as '643', on some ribonucleic and deoxyribonucleic acid viruses (polio-1, Coxsackie B4, ECHO-2, and adeno-17). This compound was effective in inhibiting the replication of all viruses tested at concentrations which did not exhibit any toxic effect on Hep-2 monolayer cultures. Virus-induced infection units were titrated by a modification of Dulbecco's method and cytopathic effects were observed. Results obtained with RNA and DNA viruses demonstrated a dose-dependent antiviral activity

Abstract
The aim of this study was to test the antiviral activity of a synthetic compound, belonging to the class of thiosemicarbazone and known as '643', on some ribonucleic and deoxyribonucleic acid viruses (polio-1, Coxsackie B4, ECHO-2, and adeno-17). This compound was effective in inhibiting the replication of all viruses tested at concentrations which did not exhibit any toxic effect on Hep-2 monolayer cultures. Virus-induced infection units were titrated by a modification of Dulbecco's method and cytopathic effects were observed. Results obtained with RNA and DNA viruses demonstrated a dose-dependent antiviral activityFile in questo prodotto:
