The endocrine modifications induced by an water extract of the leaves of Dieffenbachia amoena were investigated on female Wistar rats. The extract given for 4 days of the estrous cycle, induced a significant increase of LH, FSH and progesterone levels and a decrease of 17 beta-estradiol. These results suggest an inhibitory effect of Dieffenbachia amoena on the biosyntetic stages of the ovaric steroidogenesis that allows progesterone conversion to 17 beta-estradiol. The FSH and LH increase might be directly conseguent to the decrease of 17 beta-estradiol.

Abstract
The endocrine modifications induced by an water extract of the leaves of Dieffenbachia amoena were investigated on female Wistar rats. The extract given for 4 days of the estrous cycle, induced a significant increase of LH, FSH and progesterone levels and a decrease of 17 beta-estradiol. These results suggest an inhibitory effect of Dieffenbachia amoena on the biosyntetic stages of the ovaric steroidogenesis that allows progesterone conversion to 17 beta-estradiol. The FSH and LH increase might be directly conseguent to the decrease of 17 beta-estradiol.File in questo prodotto:
