Abstract
D.C. polarographic and voltammetric studies of the reduction of the iron(II) complex with the tridentate imine ligand 2,2′,2″-terpyridine were carried out in acetonitrile solutions. The iron(II) complex gave four steps in the reduction wave at a dropping mercury electrode, when tetra-n-butyl ammonium perchlorate was used as supporting electrolyte. The first two steps were found to be diffusion controlled and one electron reduction processes. The electrode reactions lead to the formation of the species Fe(terpy)2+ and Fe(terpy)20; it is suggested that low symmetry field components are very important in obtaining low valence states of transition metal chelates.Pubblicazioni consigliate
