In order to find an alternative and economic energetic source to corn in the diet of dairy cow during the lactation, the aim of this work was to gradually introduce the grain wheat silage in substitution of corn meal. The trial was carried out on 40 Italian Friesian cows, divided into 2 groups of 20 subjects, called CTR, the group which received corn meal, and TRT, the group where was added gradually the grain wheat silage, in substitution of corn meal. The diets were isonitrogenous and isoenergetic. At the end of the trial, when the wheat grain silage has completely replaced the corn meal, higher values of milk production were observed in the TRT group than the CTR group (24.58 kg/d vs 22.89 kg/d) whereas the clotting properties: r, A30, and K20, were similar as well as the pH and acidity in the milk of both groups.
