The research carried out by chemical studies on Cymodocea nodosa taken in Lake Faro (Me, Italy, Sicily)a highly polluted site, showing heavy metals (Pb and Cd accumulation). A difference in accumulation of heavy metals from 2009 to 2011 was detected, noting an increase of Cd and a decrease of Pb in the three organs of Cymodocea nodosa. It possible for Cymodocea though living in a brackish environment to consider and its status of biomonitor plant confirmed.
