The dark side of human memory

Abstract This paper aims to meditate on the dark aspects of memory. This adjectives is referred not only to the low number of studies, but also to the negative meaning attributed to the 'failures of memory' and the positive meaning about mnemonic abilities above te norm. The examination of the literature reveals the difficulties inherent in transporting the theoretical concepts in empirical experiments. Neverthless, since the mechanism through which we remember or forget are closely related to our personality and depend on our experience processing, a qualitative and ideographic approach could be useful. The study of human memory still offers numerous ideas, exactly from the aspects of wich it seems to have been forgotten.
