This article considers the heritage-scape as a taxonomic-institutional system giving a global sense to particular sites and territories and contributing to the deterritorialization of spaces. Through an ethnographic analysis of the systematic process of heritage construction in southeastern Sicily, it considers the construction of the area as both a heritage commodity and as a touristic asset, thus designating the area as a heritage-scape.
