Il «Decameron» strappato di Carlo Emilio Gadda

A prima vista, il Decameron non risulta una lettura cruciale per Carlo Emilio Gadda e non sorprende che il rapporto fra Boccaccio e Gadda non sia mai stato indagato. A partire da un curioso episodio biografico, il saggio dimostra invece la singolare, strategica importanza del Decameron non solo come archetipo della critica gaddiana alla morale «scenica» ed «esibitiva» del conformismo borghese, ma anche quale modello decisivo nel formarsi di una particolare strategia pluristilistica sulla scorta dei procedimenti comici della novella boccacciana. Ed è un rapporto che non solo illustra dall’interno l’operazione di Gadda, ma potrebbe portare a leggere il Decameron stesso in modo nuovo e più penetrante. At first sight, the Decameron does not appear to be a crucial reading for Carlo Emilio Gadda and it is no surprise that the relation between Boccaccio and Gadda has never been investigated. Instead, starting from a curious biographical episode, the essay demonstrates the singular, strategic importance of the Decameron not only as an archetype of Gadda’s criticism of the «histrionic» and «exhibitive» morals of bourgeois conformism, but also as a decisive model in forming a particular pluristylistic strategy in the wake of the comic procedures of Boccaccio’s novel. And it is a relationship that not only emerges from within Gadda’s work, but could lead to a new and more insightful way of reading the Decameron itself.
