From an analysis of the negotiations, the anticipation of the new model of Piedmontese development emerges on the one hand, while on the other hand, there was the intention of the French government to compensate the internal demand deficit with an increase in exports. The article also shows the foremost political interest of the two governments in a positive conclusion to the negotiations. The common aim was to reinforce the economic and political ties between the two countries, in light of future agreements.
