Immagini nella testa o immagini per la testa?

ENG: This paper aims to investigate the role played by pictures in the constitution of mental imagery. Through the reconstruction of the debate on this topic, I will try to demonstrate that pictures play a constitutive role in the occurrence of mental imagery. The reason of this relation is the deep phenomenological similarity between pictures and ordinary perception. In order to support this hypothesis, I will use the arguments of the enactive theories of perception and the core intuition of the material engagement theory, according to which pictures should not be conceived as the outcome of a representational act, but as the opportunity for visual cognition to acquire new perceptual features. ITA: Questo saggio vuole investigare il ruolo svolto dalle immagini nella costituzione del mental imagery. Attraverso la ricostruzione del dibattito, proverò a dimostrare che le immagini giocano un ruolo costitutivo nell'occorrenza del mental imagery. La ragione di questa relazione è la profonda similarità fenomenologica tra immagini e percezione ordinaria. Al fine di supportare questa ipotesi, farò riferimento alle teorie enattive della percezione e all'intuizione central della material engagement theory, secondo la quale le immagini non dovrebbero essere concepite come il risultato di un atto rappresentazionale, ma come l'opportunità per la cognizione di elaborare nuove regolarità percettive.
