Assessing Selectivity in the Estimation of the Causal Effects of Retirement on the Labour Division in the Italian Couples

Analysing the data on the Use of Time in Italy, it emerges that the influence of the latent bargaining process between partners affects for selectivity the estimation of the effect of the man's retirement on the housework time of the womanin the family. We apply a proper estimation procedure in order to estimate the causal effects of retirement on the labour division between partners controlling for the selectivity of bargaining process. The results of a sensitivity analysis confirm the robustness of our estimates.
