Tumors can give rise to inferior vena cava syndrome through different mechanisms. The tumor can obstruct the blood flow by compressing the vena cava ab extrinseco, by invading the venous wall, or by growing in-side as tumor thrombus. The primary tumor is the leiomyosarcoma, while secondary tumors include many kinds. This review concerns the diagnosis of inferior vena cava syndrome and malignancy, as well as the current surgical treatments and their outcomes.
