The essay examines the relation between State, Regions and local authorities in dealing with the emergency caused by Covid-19. The essay first reconstructs the events of Italian regionalism that preceded the pandemic including, in particular, the debate on differentiated regionalism. The Author then analyzes the emergency regulations in force, and explores future development prospects for the system of regional and local autonomy in light of the health emergency.
