Relazioni commerciali e mobilità sociale tra Calabria e Sicilia (IV sec. a.C.-II sec. d.C.)

Il contributo esamina i fenomeni di mobilità sociale, il mercenariato e le relazioni commerciali tra il Bruzio e la Sicilia tra l'età ellenistica e la prima età imperiale. Gli indicatori materiali, soprattutto le anfore e le ceramiche fini, costituiscono l'elemento che guida la ricostruzione dei processi economici e permette di delineare il complesso sistema di relazioni commerciali che interessa i mari Tirreno e Ionio e la grande rotta Roma-Cartagine. The paper describes trade and social mobility in Calabria and Sicily between the 4th century B.C. and the imperial first and middle age (II century A.D.). After analyzing the historical dynamics between the two areas of the Mediterranean, we analyze the trade, local production and circulation of fine pottery and especially of transport amphorae. Relations between Calabria and Sicily also include a dense network of social relations, like the mercenary. The Italic peoples for centuries were part of the army of the Sicilians leaders but they have had relations of trade in goods and primary goods, which testify to an unbroken history of economic and social relations between Calabria in the Hellenistic age and then the Roman Brutium and Sicily
