Abstract

Starting from music video by The Carters performing Apeshit, where the two Afro-Americans artists celebrate their socioeconomic success, becoming icons that represent the redemption of black people, this paper tries to reflect on the relationship between icon and redemption in capitalistic socioeconomic system - relationship that develops from Christology’s “economic of salvation” and the historical domain of whiteness.
