Abstract
The presence of sub-shocks within a shock structure solution is discussed for an inert binary mixture of monatomic gases, whose evolution is governed by a Grad 13-moment model. The aim of this paper is to analyse the role of characteristic speeds on the occurrence of jump discontinuities along the wave front. Lax admissible sub-shocks are further examined by geometric arguments on singularity manifolds. Theoretical results are confirmed by numerical simulations in the case of Helium and Argon mixtures.File in questo prodotto:
