In the wake of various financial scandals and corporate failures, the importance of internal controls and corporate governance in financial companies has come into sharp‐ er focus. As I try to demonstrate, the effective implementation of internal controls and corporate governance principles could enhance the transparency, accountability, and sustainability of financial institutions, which in turn promotes the confidence of investors, customers, and other stakeholders.
