This paper reports on main results of a choice experiments carried out to estimate several hypothetical afforestation and forest protection programmes in Sicily. The economet- ric analysis of data relies on logit models. The best econo- metric performance is shown by models which take into account heterogeneity in individual preferences. Results reveal that individual preferences can be grouped in dis- crete latent classes.
