Abstract

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has called into question a historic point of arrival: the exclusion of war from the European inter-state horizon, undermining certain values on which the democratic West has always been founded. Faced with what is happening, this paper intends to raise the urgency of a philosophical-political reflection on the concept of “peace”: the political theory formulated in The Right of Peoples by John Rawls will allow us to think of a just peace within a realistic vision of the needs of peoples, a regulative ideal to pursue in order to defend Europe as a community of destiny.
