The combination of innovation and artificial intelligence (AI), with referenceto innovative startups, presents a challenge for firms that start operating in themarket. Such a transformation in the entrepreneurial scenario, which is likely todefine new business models, has been observed in two European countries: Italy and Romania. In this article, we examine the AI-induced innovations in the regulatory frameworks of both countries. We then provide insights from interviews withCEOs of innovative startups, who discuss the challenges and prospects facingthe industry. This paper concludes with some reflections on this evolving framework as a prelude to further studies.
